Medium: Iteration and Failure

In September 2020 I released an EP called, “War Is On Its Way.” Developing the artwork took about six months—the same amount of time it took to write and record the songs! I wrote an illustrated essay about this design process on Medium at the time, recounting how a playful photograph of my daughter ended up becoming an angsty symbol for an electronic music project.

I think the secret to creating new ideas is not to let them become precious. I see people holding onto old ideas for a long time because they feel like others just don’t understand their genius. On the rare occasion, maybe we don’t? But most of the time the ideas just aren’t developed enough yet. The best tactic to take is to keep pushing it forward, trying something new. Many of those ideas won’t work, but eventually one of them will.
